The Foundation Day of The Congregation of the Sisters of the Little Flower of Bethany, popularly known as Bethany Sisters was celebrated with great ardour at St. Theresa’s school, Bendur, Mangalore.
The students of Std 1st and 2 nd had a Photo Frame making Competition. The students used various objects such as popsicles, sticks, glitter stickers etc and created artistic frames on the occasion of Foundation Day.
A general assembly was conducted by the students of Std. V for the primary section. A skit on the life and contribution of Msgr. RFC Mascarenhas and the four sisters who first joined the Bethany Convent was enacted. Thematic dances were performed and songs were sung to highlight the importance of the day.
The bulletin boards of the entire school were creatively and colourfully decorated using art and craft articles showcasing the great works of Father Founder.
A thanksgiving mass was held in honour of the Servant of God Msgr. RFC Mascarenhas on 14th July, 2023 at St. Sebastian church, Bendur, Mangalore. Fr. Vincent Sequeira celebrated the Holy Eucharist invoking abundant blessings of the Almighty upon the Bethany sisters who carry on their missionary work in various parts of the world. In his homily, through a demonstration, he showed a bag of life with objects displaying love, happiness, success, failure, poverty, richness etc. He conveyed the message that our life is a bundle of joys and sorrows and that we must give Jesus the best place in our lives by praying to Him everyday for our peace and happiness always.
The celebration for the High school section was held on 15th July, 2023 in the School Main Hall. Sr Shaila BS, the Correspondent of the School was the chief guest. The students of grade 10 conducted the assembly showcasing the life journey of our Father Founder RFC Mascarenhas.
The program began with a spiritual prayer highlighting the Bethany Core Values. Father Founder worked for the poor and the marginalized and provided education to countless children. The main emphasis was laid towards women empowerment. This was depicted through a thematic dance. The students carried 102 lamps and illuminated the hall to highlight the 102 years of the Foundation Day.
Sr Shaila, the Chief guest, in her message assured prayers and blessings upon all the sisters, teachers, parents and students who are sheltered under the Bethany sisters.
Sr. Shaila BS , Sr. Lourdes BS, Sr. Reena BS, Sr. Divya BS, Sr. Eulalia BS and Sr.Priya BS were felicitated for their selfless service towards the institution.
The teachers of the school gathered to wish and felicitate all the sisters for their support and guidance. They thanked the sisters for their caring and compassionate eyes of Bethany sisters.
The celebrations ended with a prayer seeking God's blessings on all the Bethany sisters for their future noble endeavours and for the success of the BES Platinum Jubilee event.
The whole week' s celebration ended by the singing of the Bethany Anthem.
