Shivamogga, July 29, 2024 : On July 28th, 2024, the Prison Ministry India, Shimoga Unit, in collaboration with Nirmala Hospital Old Town Bhadravathi and the Health Commission, organized a medical camp at Central Prison Shimoga. Dr. Anita R. the Superintendent of Central Prison Shimoga, was present for the entire duration of the camp.
The medical camp benefited 190 inmates from the men's prison. The team from Nirmala Hospital included Dr. Sr. Lovline, Dr. Jeetu, Sr. Wilma (Superior of Nirmala Hospital), Sr. Judy (Coordinator for Health Commission), Sr. Theresa Mascarenhas (Coordinator for PMI Karnataka), Sr. Helen Moras (Coordinator for PMI, Shimoga Unit), Sr. Nirmala, Sr. Shalby, Sr. Stella, and 18 nurses.
The camp provided basic health services such as blood pressure and blood sugar tests and other basic investigations. Necessary medicines were distributed to those in need. The presence of Superintendent Dr. Anita enabled them to conduct health check ups very systematically and effectively. The event concluded with a note of appreciation and acknowledgement by the prison team. At the end the participants were served a sumptuous lunch. Thus the medical camp ended at 3 PM.
