Shivamogga, May 28,2023 : Diocesan Charismatic Renewal Services together with the Parish of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Shivamogga organised Diocesan level Pentecost Night Vigil from May 27th Saturday 9pm to May 28th Sunday 6am at Sacred Heart Cathedral Shivamogga.
Diocesan Renewal Services Spiritual Director Fr Franklin D’Souza and Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish Priest Fr Stany D'Souza worked on the program.
Theme of the vigil was: "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses". Acts 1:8.
On May 27th at 9pm Fr Franklin D'Souza led the Rosary. Then at 9:30pm Most Re. Dr Francis Serrao SJ, Bishop of Diocese of Shimoga offered Vigil Mass together with Fr Stany D'Souza, Fr Franklin D’Souza, Fr Lawrence D'Souza, Fr Jesu Rakshaka Nathan and Fr Shant Raj. In his homily Bishop spoke on "Holy Spirit unites us". He narrated an example of the tower of Babel which divided people because of their selfishness but the Power of Pentecost united everyone. He stressed the need of Prayer and the power of prayer.
Other Highlights of the Night Vigil :
- 11pm to 12am : Praise and Worship & Introductory talk by Rev. Fr Pius D'Souza.
- 12am to 1am: Session 1 : "Gifts of the Holy Spirit" 1 Cor 12:1-14: Gifts are given to build up communities of love and service by Rev. Fr Lawrence D'Souza.
- 2am to 3am Session 2 : "If you knew the gift of God" John 4:10: We are not orphans, we witness Jesus by leading a Holy Life in the Vocation and Mission given to us by Fr Franklin D'Souza.
- 3am to 4am : Divine Mercy & Jericho Prayer, led by DSC Team.
- 4am to 4:45am Session 3: "Fruit of the Spirit" Gal 5:13 - 26; Witnessing Jesus in our lives by Fr Nelson Pinto OCD.
- 4:45 am to 5:40am Session 4 : Healing Service and Anointing of the Holy Spirit by Fr Pius D'Souza.
- 6:30am : FESTAL HOLY EUCHARIST by Rev. Fr Stany D'Souza, Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Shivamogga.
Bro. Nishant and Bro. Stephan Arun helped throughout the vigil with music ministry.
Fr Franklin D'Souza thanked the resource team and 250 faithful gathered from all around the Diocese for the vigil.
