The day brings together young leaders to honour the legacy of guiding and make a difference in the world

Mangaluru, Feb 26, 2025 : Thinking Day is celebrated annually on February 22nd by Girl Guides and Boy Scouts around the world, serving as a day of reflection, unity, and global camaraderie. This significant day was established to honour the birthdays of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts, and his wife Olave Baden-Powell, the World Chief Guide. It provides Guides and Scouts with an opportunity to reflect on their shared global sisterhood, deepen their understanding of different cultures, and reaffirm their commitment to the core values of service, leadership, and friendship.

The celebration at St Agnes school (CBSE), Mangalore, began with the hoisting of the Guides Flag by Guide Saanvi, marking the beginning of a series of meaningful activities in the presence of Principal Sr. Maria Sarika A.C., along with Guide and Scout Captains, Cub Masters, and Flock Leaders. Principal Sr. Maria Sarika addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of Thinking Day. She encouraged the students to actively engage in the day's events, strengthen their connections with one another, maintain discipline, and prioritize personal safety and well-being. Her words set the tone for an enriching day of growth and community.

The programme began with a meaningful Prayer Service, setting the tone for a day of inclusivity and reflection. It was followed by a stunning welcome dance, beautifully performed by the Guides, captivating the audience with their graceful movements and symbolizing the unity and elegance of the global Girl Guiding community. Guide Namashree extended a warm and heartfelt welcome, inviting everyone to join in the celebration of this special day.

Guide Susan eloquently spoke about the rich history and far-reaching impact of Thinking Day, reminding all present of the strength that comes when young women unite for a common cause. This was followed by the All Faith Prayer, a moving moment that brought everyone together in a shared spirit of faith, peace, and hope for a harmonious world.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Guide Jia, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to making the event a success. Later in the day, the students participated in Shramadhan, a community service activity where they worked together to clean and beautify their surroundings. This activity reinforced the values of selflessness, cooperation, and service to others, embodying the true spirit of Thinking Day.

The day’s events not only celebrated the values of Girl Guiding but also encouraged the development of leadership skills, teamwork, and global citizenship. Sr. Meena Fernandes A.C, the Vice Principal congratulated the Guides for their enthusiastic participation, commending them for their leadership, discipline, and dedication to the community. The activities were thoughtfully designed to foster a sense of belonging and empowerment among all participants, strengthening the bonds of sisterhood and the shared mission of making a positive impact in the world.
