Mangaluru, Jan 30 : The R&D Cell and IQAC of St. Agnes College organized an insightful seminar titled "Strategic Insights for Scholarly Publishing: Understanding Journals and Harnessing Scopus and Web of Science" on January 29, 2025, for first-year, second-year, and research interested students and staff.

The resource speaker, Dr. Niyaz Panakaje, Associate Professor at YIASCIM, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Kuluru, Mangaluru, delivered an engaging session aimed at inspiring young minds towards research. He highlighted the significance of research, differentiated between Web of Science and Scopus, and explained the importance of publishing in high-indexed journals. Dr. Panakaje also emphasized the value of high-quality research, introduced the IMRAD format for research writing, and provided a comprehensive list of global indexing agencies, recognized databases, and top publishers.

Additionally, he guided attendees on identifying credible journals for publication, leveraging AI in research writing, and staying career-ready. He also proposed the establishment of an SRB (Scientific review board) in the college to encourage a research-driven culture.

The event commenced with a prayer, followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Geetha Nazareth, Head of the R&D Cell. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Meeradevi, Associate Professor, Department of History. The seminar left a lasting impact on students and staff, motivating them to actively engage in research for their personal and academic growth.
