Mangaluru, Jan 10 : The LKG students of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru were engaged in a number of innovative and interactive activities that made learning a joyful experience for them. They learnt about the wild animals through creative interactive activities. They used flashcards, charts and a discovery activity where they eagerly searched through a tub and found wild animals hidden inside thermocol balls. This hands-on approach made learning about wildlife fun, creative and engaging.
Another group of students focused on reading activities, which helped them enhance their vocabulary, phonic skills, and overall literacy. Further practicing two-letter words, they gained confidence to read simple sentences. Through repetition and child centred activities, a solid foundation was laid for their future language development.
Students explored the world of creative storytelling which was narrated in different ways like role-play and dramatization. They acted out the story of "The Cap Seller and the Monkeys", in the open natural settings which helped them better understand the characters and the moral of the story. This immersive approach fostered a deeper appreciation for literature and enhanced their storytelling skills.
Yet another batch of students were introduced to the Hindi language through fun and interactive activities. Flash cards and rhymes were used to teach new words and the children traced letters in sand and on chapathi dough. This hands-on method made learning Hindi a joyful experience for them.
The last batch of students learnt numbers using an abacus, for developing numerical skills. The children got hands-on experience with the concept of tens and ones through the VAKT (Visual, Auditory, Kinaesthetic, Tactile) method, making number learning both engaging and interactive.
