Puttur, 29 October 2024 : “In an era marked by intense competition, developing language fluency alongside academic achievements is inevitable for students, especially those aspiring to pursue journalism”, said Mr Rakesh Kumar Kammaje, Principal of Ambika Mahavidyalaya, Puttur, who participated as resource person for a workshop titled “Report Writing: Techniques and Possibilities” at St Philomena Autonomous College. The event was organized in collaboration with the Departments of Kannada, English and Kannada Sangha at the PG Seminar Hall of the college.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Kammaje underlined the essential role of reading and writing in the life of a journalist, and provided insights into the core principles of journalism, the skill set required for effective reporting, and the significance of concise and impactful writing. He stressed the need for students to hone these skills to thrive in the rapidly evolving field of journalism.

The program was presided over by the Principal of the College, Rev. Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, who highlighted the importance of active participation among students. “Learning without creativity holds no meaning,” he remarked, urging the students to embrace creative pursuits that complement their academic endeavours.

Vice Principal and Head of the Kannada Department, Dr Vijaya Kumar Moleyar, and Public Relations Officer and Head of the English Department, Bharathi S. Rai, were present on the dais.

The program began with a warm welcome by student Skanda Krishna. Sabida compered the event. Farisa N proposed vote of thanks.

Noveline N Fernades ,Sushma Crasta and Vinil Rohan D’souza ,Assistant Professors from the Department of English, Dr Maithri Bhat and Prashanthi N from the Department of Kannada and Dr Dimple J Fernandes, HoD of Hindi were present on the occasion.
