Udupi, Oct 2, 2024 : On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, St. Cecily's English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE), Udupi, hosted an inspiring and heartfelt event honouring Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation. The programme was a reflection of the students’ commitment to Gandhian ideals, demonstrating their deep understanding of his timeless values.

The celebration began with a warm welcome from Rolvita, whose cheerful presence set an inviting tone for the day's proceedings. Rithika followed with an eloquent and inspiring speech, paying tribute to Gandhi’s unwavering dedication to truth, non-violence, and social justice, underscoring his profound influence on modern India.

A serene prayer service led by Sarah and her team filled the gathering with a sense of peace, embodying Gandhiji’s emphasis on spirituality and inner harmony. The spiritual atmosphere was further uplifted by a vibrant welcome dance led by Drishika and her team, whose graceful performance left the audience in awe.

In keeping with tradition, the ceremonial lamp was lit by the esteemed Principal, Sr. Lathika, accompanied by Vice Principal Sr. Lavishanti, Tr. Sushmita, Non-Teaching Staff member Shankutala, and School Head Girl Vanshika, symbolizing the enlightenment that Gandhiji’s teachings continue to bring to the world.

A skit titled "Icons of Gandhi," presented by Sihaan and his team, offered a thoughtful exploration of the Mahatma's life and values. Ancilla’s narration deepened the audience’s reflection on the significance of Gandhi Jayanti and its enduring relevance in our pursuit of a more just society.
The highlight of the day was an energetic and synchronized dance performance by Mansi and her team on the theme of “Swachh Bharat.” Their portrayal of cleanliness and environmental conservation beautifully captured Gandhiji’s vision for a clean and healthy India.

Following the cultural performances, the Principal, Sr. Lathika, took the stage and delivered an inspiring address to the students. She urged them to reflect on the words of Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” In her speech, she emphasized that true change begins with individuals and that each student has the power to make a difference in their own way. She reminded the students that by practicing honesty, kindness, and responsibility in their daily lives, they are contributing to a better, more compassionate world.

As the event concluded, Sonali delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the program. Following the celebration, students actively participated in a cleanliness drive, taking Gandhiji’s message of cleanliness to heart by cleaning their classrooms and the campus.

The Gandhi Jayanti celebration at the school was not just a tribute, but a reminder of Gandhiji’s timeless principles and their relevance today. It was a day that inspired us all to walk in the footsteps of the great leader.
