Bantwal, Aug 29 : St John's Kannada Medium School and St.Antony English Medium School Allipade hosted the much awaited Bantwala Taluk Level Yoga competition at the Sauharda Sababavan on 28 August, 2024. The morning was filled with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. The competition was held for the age group under 14. The competitors and their teachers from 30 schools arrived at the school premises with great enthusiasm.
The dignitaries present for the programme were Rev.Fr Robert D'souza the Correspondent, Sr Narcisa Sequeira the Correspondent of St John English Medium High School, Shri Naveen Moras Vice President, Mr Kiran Noronha Secretary of the parish council, Mr Purushotham Bangera SDMC President of St. John Kannada Medium school and Sr Deepa the Headmistress of St John high school ,Taluk Inspector of Physical Education Mr Shivaprasad Rai, Shri Umanatha Rai the President of State Government Employees Association, Mr Chinnappa Zonal Nodal Officer, Sr Lavina Veigas Headmistress of St Antony English Medium School, Mrs Vinoda Headmistress of St. John Kannada Medium school.
The programme began with a welcome dance by St Antony School students followed by a prayer song to invoke God’s blessings. Headmistress Vinoda welcomed the gathering. The chief guest Mr Shivprasad Rai in his address said that if we want a strong country, we need strong youth. In his introductory speech, urged the youth that daily practice of yoga keeps the mind ,soul and body healthy.
Rev.Fr Robert D'Souza the correspondent of the school and the President of the program wished the contestants success by saying that maintaining a balance between victory and defeat is the key to success.
Mrs Sowmya proposed vote of thanks, Mrs Vanitha and Mrs Pratima compered the program. Finally the most anticipated time of the day arrived, the moment of announcing the winners. The prize distribution program was conducted by Mrs Vinaya.
The program ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
