Bengaluru, Aug 13 : On 10th August 2024, the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter in association with school of Information Technology, hosted a seminar titled "Consensus for Change: Decentralized Approaches for a Sustainable Tomorrow", held at Xavier Hall, St. Joseph's University, Bengaluru, the event focused on decentralized technologies and their role in driving sustainable development. The seminar featured Dr. Chengappa Munjandira, Sr. Technologist at Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Vice Chair of IEEE Bangalore Section. He shared his expertise on how technological solutions, particularly Blockchain, can address critical environmental and societal challenges.
The seminar began with a welcome address by Dr. Mithun D’Souza, followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest by Rev. Fr. Denzil Lobo SJ, who also delivered the presidential address. Dr. Deepa Nagalavi introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Chengappa Munjandira, who engaged the audience with his insightful presentation on decentralized approaches for sustainable development.
He also spoke on Blockchain and Sustainability, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Blockchain Technology, Addressing misconceptions about Blockchain, Discussion on Blockchain's key features and its relevance to sustainability. Brief introduction to Web3 and its future impact on sustainability and at last sir spoke on the Summary of Blockchain’s potential role in achieving sustainability goals. The seminar concluded with a quiz conducted by Dr. Chengappa. The interactive session was well-received, with a prize awarded to the winners 1st prize to Reaven Clint D’souza (M.Sc. Comp), 2nd prize to Zoya Khan (M.Sc. Big data Analytics) and 3rd prize to Aavon Bosco Vaz (M.Sc. Comp), congratulations to all the students.
