Mangaluru, Aug 4 : Van Mahotsav - the festival of forests is celebrated in order to nurture trees and protect our priceless forests. With an intent to instill a sense of environmental responsibility and to create an awareness of “tree culture” among students, Van Mahotsav was celebrated in Ladyhill Victoria Girls’ Composite P.U.College, Urwa - Mangaluru on 30th July 2024. Mr.RajendraKalbavi (Executive Director, D.K. Nirmithi Kendra ,N.I.T.K. Surathkal) was the chief guest. College Principal Sr. Ujwala A.C and Vice Principal Sr. Shermila A.C graced the occasion. There was a green ambiance around the college with students and lecturers depicting green with potted plants.

The programme began with a solemn prayer service depicting the significance of the day followed by a short programme on the importance of nature and saving it. Archana, I PUC Commerce welcomed the gathering. Group song was sung by students on the theme of environment. Students performed a beautiful group fusion dance showing the four elements of mother Earth.

Mr. Rajendra Kalbavi gave a brief and clear insight on the current environmental conditions and protection. Harshitha, I PUC Commerce proposed the vote of thanks. In the end, the Chief guest accompanied by Principal, Vice Principal, Staff representative, Student council Eco club presented a sapling as a symbol of this celebration. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.
