Udupi, July 8 : St Cecily's English Medium School held its Parent Teachers’ General Body Meeting on July 6, 2024. The meeting commenced with prayer sung by the school choir followed by a welcome dance performed by the students.
The Principal, Sr. Lathika A.C., escorted the esteemed guests - Dr. Rayan Mathias, senior student counsellor at the Department of Student Affairs at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Sr Therese Jyothi A.C., Superior of St Cecily's Convent, and Sr Preethi Crasta A.C. ,Joint Secretary and Mrs YulanVidhyavati ,P.T.A. Vice President to the dais. The principal then welcomed the gathering and introduced Dr. Rayan Mathias,the guest speaker,to the audience.
Ms Cecilia presented a report summarizing the proceedings of the Parent-Teacher meetings held in the academic year 2023-’24 and the vice principal, Sr Lavishanthi A.C. presented the year’s audited financial report.
Dr Rayan Mathias, the chief guest, addressed the parents on the importance of responsible use of social media and its potential negative impact on students. He emphasized the role of parents in monitoring their children's online activities and fostering open communication. He alsodiscussed students’ sensitivity leading to suicidal tendencies, dangers of the dark web and potential causesof drug addiction among students. He urged the parents to create a supportive home environment to prioritize students' mental well-being.
Dr Rayan Mathias concluded his speech by emphasizing the necessity of collaborative efforts among parents, teachers, and the school to build students’ character and ensure their holistic development.
Ms Teena announced the new office bearers and Ms. R. Prachi Singh served as the master of ceremonies for the programme. Ms. Keerthi delivered the vote of thanks. Following a question-and-answer session, the programme concluded with the National Anthem.
