Mangaluru, June 16 : The world environment day is celebrated every year on 5th June to raise global awareness to take positive environmental action to protect nature and the planet earth. It is a day that reminds everyone on the planet to get involved in environment friendly activities.

World Environment Day was celebrated at Carmel School Kotekar, CBSE on June 13, 2024 by the students of Class VIII B.

The programme began with a meaningful prayer service invoking God’s blessings on the planet Earth and seeking Divine guidance for the protection and preservation of the environment. Rayan Dsouza delivered an insightful speech on the significance of World Environment Day, emphasizing global efforts towards environmental sustainability and the urgent need for collective action.

The event featured a rich cultural program showcasing various student performances, all thematically linked to environmental conservation. A standout moment was the mime show, which poignantly depicted the adverse impacts of human activities on the environment and highlighted the necessity for sustainable living.

Sr.Pramila Dsouza A.C., the principal who presided over the programme spoke on the importance of preserving the Mother Earth and ways by which students can play the role as conservers of this Earth. Through the tableau which highlighted how to heed the cry of the Mother Earth and avoid the use of plastics which are harmful to earth and all that lives on it. Environmental songs made aware of the need to preserve this Earth.

Sr.Anita A.C the Vice Principal, Sr.Ashwina and Ms. Roopa the coordinators were present for the same. The programme was compered by Bhuvi Devadiga, Nidhi Shetty, Mohammed Rihan and vote of thanks was rendered by Diyan.
