Udupi, June 15 : On June 15th, 2024, St. Cecily English Medium Higher Primary School (CBSE), Udupi commemorated World Environment Day. Muskan and Bradely, students from Grades 9 and 10, served as welcoming hosts and provided an informative introduction to the day's environmental theme.

The celebration commenced with a prayer service that featured a prayer song, a biblical verse, and an emphasis on the significance of nature's fundamental elements: water, fire, wind, and earth. Ania Aleissa Monis, a Grade 10 student, warmly welcomed the esteemed chief guest, Ms. Dreema Vaz, Sister Lathika, the principal, Sister Lavishanthi, Vice Principal , teachers and students.

The programme then continued with a captivating classical dance performance that underscored the importance of environmental protection.

Students from Grades 9 and 10 presented a thought-provoking skit titled "Our Land, Our Future." The skit highlighted the crucial need for land conservation, the use of eco-friendly products, water preservation, and the prevention of deforestation.

The programme culminated in a powerful dance drama that encouraged the audience to refrain from littering, advocate for soil preservation, and actively protect the Earth.

Ms. Dreema Vaz, the esteemed chief guest, addressed the gathering with an insightful message, emphasizing the importance of individual action. She elaborated on the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" principles, tree planting, energy conservation, water preservation, and the critical need to raise awareness about environmental protection and resource sustainability. Her speech concluded with a powerful message: even small actions can make a significant difference.

The chief guest gave certificates to the students who participated in the Indian Talent Olympiad (2023-2024). Dakshith S P, grade 5, bagged both the excellence award and class topper title. Sudhiksha Mohan Naik secured class topper, state topper, and a scholarship of Rs. 1000.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Isra Haneen, a student from Grade 10.
