In Carmel School, they believe every interaction is an opportunity to make a change. It paves the way for their student’s holistic development and success in life. Keeping this in mind, an Orientation programme was organized for parents on NEP- National Education Policy on 8th July 2023 in the school auditorium. The programme was organised in two sessions. The first session was conducted for the parents of LKG to grade V and the second session was for parents of Grade VI to X.

The programme began with a melodious prayer song presented by the teachers invoking God's Blessings. A captivating welcome dance was performed by the students. Sr Maria Gracilda A.C. the principal appreciated and thanked the parents for their presence in spite of heavy rains and their generous contribution in the child care. A warm Welcome was accorded to the Chief Guest and resource person Dr. Flosy Dsouza, Associate Professor, St Ann's College of Education (Autonomous), Mangaluru. Sr Preena A. C the Vice principal, Sr Ranitha the Coordinator, Mr Jossy Menezes, Vice President of PTA for their gracious presence on this unique occasion.

During the session Dr Flossy Dsouza gave a brief insight on National Education Policy 2020( NEP) and its implementations to the initial stages of education. She emphasized on many aspects of National Curriculum Framework 2023 ( NCF). She spoke on how the new education policy( NEP) seeks to transform the Indian Education system. This system covers all aspects of education from Early Childhood education to higher education. She further explained in detail about Panchakosha Vikas ( Five-fold Development), Vision and Aims of NEP, four stages of Academic Structure namely foundational stage, preparatory stage, middle stage and secondary stage. She also explained the importance for the teachers to apply classroom strategies for teaching learning by teaching three languages policy, planning for teaching and many more. It also gave the teachers an insight into evolving their pedagogy to ensure student progress. She also urged the parents to be supportive and cooperative with teachers & management for the smooth implementation of the new education policy. The programme was compered by Tr. Shanti Dcosta. Vote of thanks was proposed by Sr Rosy A. C. the Coordinator.

The session was adjourned by serving refreshments and by singing the national anthem. The engaging session was surely a satisfying and enriching one for parents as well as for teachers.
