Mogarnad, Sep 24 : On the sacred occasion of the Nativity of Mother Mary, the Deva Matha Youth Movement (ICYM Mogarnad) organized the 'Moriyal Geetha' ward-wise singing competition on September 14, 2024 at Deva Matha Sabha Bhavan, bringing together the devoted parishioners of Mother of God Church, Mogarnad, in a spirit of unity and devotion.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Naveen Prakash Pinto, Principal of Deva Matha English Medium School; Deacon Melwyn D'Souza; Mr. Denzil Pereira, Coordinator of the Blue Angels Choir; Dr. Velita Lobo, Renowned Singer; Sr. Anne, Head of Deva Matha Convent; Mr. Santhosh D'Souza, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council; Mr. Wilfred Lobo, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council; Mrs. Emiliana D'Cunha, Coordinator of all the Commissions of the Church; Mr. Prashanth Lewis, Animator of DMYM; Mr. Melroy D'Souza, President of DMYM; and Ms. Flavita Priya Pinto, Secretary of DMYM.
The program commenced with a soulful hymn led by the members of DMYM, setting a reverent tone for the event. Melroy D'Souza, President of DMYM, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The dignitaries then symbolically inaugurated the event by unveiling the winners' trophy.
Deacon Melwyn D'Souza addressed the gathering, reflecting on the holiness and greatness of Mother Mary, and spoke of her abundant blessings upon all. Rev. Fr. Naveen Prakash Pinto followed, emphasizing the divine significance of the 'Moriyal Geetha' event. He highlighted how such events not only bring out hidden talents among participants but also foster confidence and team spirit, while expressing his joy in worshipping Mary through song.
Following the formal ceremony, Secretary Flavita Priya Pinto conveyed a heartfelt vote of thanks. The program was elegantly compered by Ms. Mishel Suvares, who added a lively touch to the proceedings.
The DMYM members introduced the judges for the event, Mr. Denzil Pereira and Dr. Velita Lobo, who had the challenging task of evaluating the 19 participating wards from the church.
The eagerly awaited results were announced, with the following wards emerging victorious:
- First Place: Christ King Ward
- Second Place: Holy Family Ward
- Third Place: Amtoor Sacred Heart of Jesus Ward
The event concluded with refreshments, providing participants and attendees an opportunity to share moments of joy and camaraderie.
The 'Moriyal Geetha' singing competition was a vibrant and harmonious celebration, uniting the parishioners of Mother of God Church, Mogarnad, in deep devotion and community spirit.
