Bantwal, Feb 6 : The ICYM Loretto Unit organized the "Loretto Premier League - Season 5" cricket tournament for all parishioners on February 4th, 2024. The inaugural ceremony began at 8:45 a.m. with a prayer song.

In attendance were Parish Priest Rev. Fr Francis Crasta, Loretto English Medium Principal Rev. Fr Jason Monis, Vice President of the Pastoral Council Mr Cyprian Dsouza, Mrs Shaila Barboza - Secretary of the Pastoral Council, Mr Prakash Vas - Pastoral Council coordinator of all commissions, Animator of ICYM Loretto Unit Mr Alwyn Pinto, the team owners of the five teams, President of ICYM Loretto Unit Vinod Menezes, and ICYM Sports Representative Wilson Dsouza.

Vinod Menezes, the President of ICYM Loretto Unit, extended a warm welcome to the attendees. The Parish Priest addressed the gathering and inaugurated the tournament by presenting flags, symbolizing each team, to the respective team owners.

There were 5 teams: Team Rising Warriors - Owner Mr Praveen Pinto, Team Loretto strikers - Owner Mr Prakash Vas, Team Flying Eagles- Owner Mr Pranam D’Souza, Team United Xi - Owner Mr John Lasrado and Team Loretto Super Warriors- Owner Mr Robin Barboza. There were around 72 players playing for their respective teams from the entire parish. It was a single day event with 10 league matches and 2 playoffs.

For the Valedictory Ceremony, Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Francis Crasta, Loretto English Medium Principal Rev. Fr. Jason Monis, Vice President of the Pastoral Council Mr Cyprian Dsouza,Mr Prakash Vas - Pastoral Council coordinator of all commissions,Loretto Nirmala Convent Superior Sr Agnes Andrade, Animator of ICYM Loretto Unit Mr Alwyn Pinto, and ICYM Sports Representative Wilson Dsouza were present.

Team Loretto Super Warriors emerged as Winners of LPL Season 5 and Team Rising Warriors bagged up the runners trophy. Individual prizes were distributed as Best Bowler Joel Cutinha (Team Rising Warriors ), Best Batsman - Framan Fernandes (Team United Xi) ,Best Fielder-Hanson Noronha (Team Loretto Strikers), Best Keeper- Mr Nelson Sequeira (Team Flying Eagles), Man of the series - Joswin Crasta (Team Loretto Super Warriors).

Ashlin Barboza, Secretary of ICYM Loretto unit delivered Vote of thanks. Melreen Dsouza compered the event.
