Surathkal, Nov 19 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) St. Mother Teresa Deanery Surathkal organized “SPORTS DAY – 2023” on Sunday, 12th November 2023 at Infant Mary Church Ground, Katipalla.

The inaugural ceremony began at 10am by invoking God’s blessing through a prayer song. Fr. Sylvester Dcosta– Director, ICYM Surathkal Deanery, Fr. Santhosh Lobo – Parish Priest of Katipalla; Fr. Richard – Asst Parish priest of Surathkal; Mr.Rajesh Suares, Suares Sports Club Mulki; Ms. Lavita Dsouza- President, ICYM Surathkal Deanery; Ms. Clarin Fernandes – Secretary, ICYM Surathkal Deanery; Vallen D Almeida – Sports Secretary of ICYM Surathkal Deanery were present on the dais.

Lavita Dsouza – President of ICYM Surathkal Deanery welcomed the gathering. The guest inaugurated the program by cutting the ribbon for throwball and playing an over of cricket. Fr. Sylvester Dcosta, Fr. Santhosh Lobo and Mr. Rolphy Dcosta encouraged the youths with their valuable words. Vallen D Almeida – Sports secretary of ICYM Surathkal Deanery rendered the vote of thanks.

Various events were conducted for the youth of all 5 parishes of Surathkal Deanery. Cricket, throw ball and tug of war were held. ICYM Katipalla bagged the winners trophy for cricket with ICYM Surathkal as the runners up. The throwball winners trophy was won by ICYM Surathkal with ICYM Mulki as the runners up. The trophy for tug of war was also won by ICYM Surathkal making them the overall champions of the tournament.
