Mangaluru, Oct 21 : On the 20th of October 2023, St. Theresa’s School showcased an incredible display of resilience, patience, grit, leadership, and accountability during its much-anticipated 'Annual Sports Meet 2023-24' at the Mangala Stadium in Mangaluru.

The President of the day, Sr Shaila BS, Correspondent of the School ; The Chief Guest Mr. Chetan R, Principal of Hebich Technical Training Institute; Sr Dona, the Superior of the Bethany Mother House, Sr Lourdes the Principal ; Sr Reena, the Vice principal; Mr Sujith Noronha, the PTA Vice President, received a warm welcome with a guard of honour, setting the tone for the day's festivities.

The event took off invoking blessings on the Almighty, which was followed with a breathtaking march past by the four houses, accompanied by the marching beats from the school band, leaving everyone in awe. This was followed by the hoisting of the School flag.

Sr Lourdes, the Principal of the School, welcomed the esteemed gathering and emphasized the profound importance of sports in shaping the lives of children.
The torch of Sports Jyoti was carried proudly by the Sports Prefects, Ishaan Sharma and Kshithi Shetty, along with accomplished state and national-level winners across various sports disciplines. Their symbolic journey with this flame of sportsmanship culminated in the handover to the Chief Guest. Sr Shaila prayed for the success and good health of students and declared the meet OPEN .

The students wholeheartedly embraced the spirit of the event as the oath was administered by Ishaan Sharma, infusing the day with a sense of commitment and sportsmanship.

In his inspiring address, the Chief Guest highlighted the critical role of sports in the holistic development of every child. He emphasized that sports is an integral part of education, instilling discipline and encouraging the students to participate with sincerity.

As the sporting events commenced, the air resonated with enthusiastic cheers and abundant encouragement for young athletes. The students competed in a variety of events, including running races, shot put, and long jump.

The closing ceremony was witnessed by the Chief Guest, Advocate, Mr Udayananda A. In his speech, the chief guest shared his admiration for the dedication and sportsmanship displayed by the young athletes, emphasizing the values of teamwork and importance of sports in daily life.

The climax of the day was a thrilling relay race between the four houses, adding an electrifying atmosphere to the sports event.

The winners of the various events were honoured by the dignitaries, receiving medals and certificates for their achievements. Red House emerged as the victorious team, clinching The Best House Trophy, while Yellow House secured the Runners -up position. Individual Championship in Junior category was bagged by-Nia Jasani, Std VII A and Aboobakar Nabeel Ibrahim, Std VII D.

In the Senior Category, Saneeha Shetty, Std IXA and Lerone Mendonca, Std XB bagged the Individual Championship.

The grand finale of Sports Day arrived as the Chief Guest declared the event's closing. The day ended on a cheerful note, brimming with promises and excitement for all the young sports enthusiasts.
